I am directed to inform you, with reference

to my letter No. 1209/1912 of the 2nd. December, 1915, that the Government has now occasion to utilise, for an important public purpose the nature of which the Governer briefly ex-

-plained to you at an interview today, the area over which

you hold an option for the purposes of a Portuguese housing scheme, and desires therefore to withdraw the option referred

to.

I am to enquire therefore whether you have any

objection to the option being cancelled.
